About
This is a practice log for calligraphy and hand lettering, kept at a small desk under a window in a spare room that is also where the laundry dries. I work mostly with a pointed dip nib and a broad-edged nib, with occasional detours into brush lettering and pencil roughs for signs that friends ask for. There is no studio and no training beyond books and repetition.
I write here about what I practiced, for how long, what the ink and paper did, and what I would do differently. The point is not to show finished pieces, of which there are few. It is to keep an honest record of a slow skill learned in half-hour sessions after the dishes are done.
